The following story describes how using ORION allowed an investigator to find important contact information for another agency.

Officer Bolton was working on an investigation in Idaho in which he requested a RAND search on a vehicle with a license plate of ABC123. The RAND response revealed that an ORI in Washington recently ran an RQ on the vehicle. To continue his investigation, Bolton wanted to contact the Washington ORI, but he did not have the querying agency’s contact information.

Through sending a TQ to WA (the location of the agency), he was able to obtain the phone number associated with the ORI. Officer Bolton was then able to contact the agency and continue with his investigation.
