Team Spotlight - Tim Cook
Today, meet Tim Cook, Nlets’ Senior Accountant. He has been with Nlets for 6.5 years and shared his favorite part of working at Nlets (and so much more).
Q. What Are the Primary Responsibilities of Your Role?
A. Each day can bring different challenges and tasks. Typically, a day might be spent reviewing purchase orders that go into our accounting system (Intacct), managing fixed assets (capital projects), reviewing/approving expense reports in Nexonia, or assisting in many other accounting/finance duties that arise relating to contracts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and the month end close process.
Q. What is Your Favorite Part About Working at Nlets? Why?
A. It is difficult to separate out my favorite. If I had to choose, I’d say the fact that our mission is to provide critical information quickly to those needing it in the law enforcement and criminal justice community in order to help keep us all safe is something that makes the job rewarding. This is reflected in the culture and attitudes of those working for and with Nlets and I’m happy to be a part of that. Also, the flexibility that allows me to work remotely from Oregon is awesome.
Q. When You’re Not at Work, What Do You Like to Do? Hobbies? Secret Talents?
A. When not working, I enjoy being a dad which means lots of family time. This includes many activities like cartoons, story time, parks, road trips, zoos, and more. Apart from that, I enjoy archery, outdoor activities, hunting, movies, and traveling.
Q. Why Did You Initially Choose to Work at Nlets? How Did You Hear About it and What Has Kept You Here?
A. I found Nlets’ ad on Craigslist and at the time, had no idea at the time what Nlets did. After some research, I was intrigued by the non-profit aspect and the services it provided. I think the listing also mentioned something about it being recession proof which made it even more tempting given the dire financial health I experienced at some other companies I worked for. During the interview process, I was drawn in by those who I met with (Laura, Frank, Steve, and Keith) and decided to join the team.
